The Gimhae Kim clan is a Korean clan that is descended from the King Suro of Geumgwan Gaya. King Suro was the founder of Gaya confederacy, and his descendant, Kim Yu-sin is renowned for leading the Silla armies unify the Three Kingdoms of Korea. The origin of the clan traces back to Suro of Geumgwan Gaya who had ten children, thus starting the Kim dynasty of Geumgwan Gaya, the capital of which was in present-day Gimhae. Famous ancient members of this clan, aside from the kings of Geumgwan Gaya, include the Silla general Kim Yu-sin

The Gaya Union was a confederation of small states formed in parts of Gyeongsangnam-do and Gyeongsangbuk-do from the 1st century AD to the 6th century AD. It existed alongside Goguryeo, Baekje, and Silla.

Gaya Union was an alliance that dominated the central and southern parts of the world from the 1st to the 6th century CE. Although the peninsula was ruled by Baekje and Silla, more powerful neighboring countries of Gaya, Gaya was able to maintain its independence and cultural identity through maritime trade and an alliance with Japan. According to archaeological evidence from some city-states of Byeonhan in the 3rd and 4th centuries, it evolved into the Gaya Union and was later absorbed into Silla, one of Korea¡¯s three kingdoms.°¡¾ß¿¬ÇÕÀº ¼±â 1¼¼±âºÎÅÍ 6¼¼±â±îÁö ¼¼°èÀÇ ÁßºÎ¿Í ³²ºÎ¸¦ Áö¹èÇÑ µ¿¸ÍÀ̾ú´Ù.
